Education Initiatives for Young Girls & Women

We at Sovereign Global have always valued education and the ability of that education for all children. In many parts of the world education is not available for young children, even more so often not for young girls. In order to aid in our own small way to ratify this large injustice, we have participated in the following ways:

  • Provided the funding for a new classroom for teachers in need, including desks, chairs, tables, chalkboard, and other essentials in South Sudan, Syria, and Lebanon, where the violent conflicts have left many children without access to education.

  • Funding 10 years of schooling for girls in Afghanistan, which included tuition, books, and other supplies needed to better equip these young girls with access to education.

  • Donating mandatory school uniforms for girls in Kenya’s Dadaab refugee camp

  • In Liberia we donated funds to an opportunistic program that supports female entrepreneurs through small business training.

“Having two very young daughters myself, I couldn’t imagine their lives without even the most basic forms of an education. So my reason for choosing these particular gifts this year was to try to empower these girls to be strong, to be independent and to even potentially do some great things with their life, just as I would want for my own daughters. My goal simply was to just try and maybe lower the odds against them…(and) the potential of a business savvy woman should never be underestimated and could be vital to the recovery of a family after war.” - John Dragotta, CEO

The International Rescue Committee (IRC), founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future.
