Sovereign Global Advisors Gives Back to NYC's Homeless

Sovereign Global Advisors’ CEO/ President John Dragotta volunteered, along with friends of SGA, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church’s soup kitchen in Manhattan. The church transforms its theater space every Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm-2pm to feed the city’s homeless population. Sovereign Global Advisors took part in prepping the food before the doors opened, as well as serving nutritious meals to all those who showed up. In addition to volunteering, Mr. Dragotta also made a pantry donation to the church.

“I always wanted to be in a position of doing something like this – helping those in need.” said Mr. Dragotta. “I feel it is my duty to teach anyone who comes into my investment firm, whether they’re a friend, colleague or intern, the importance of giving back to your community. That is why I continue to volunteer and donate to these charitable causes as often as I can.”

According to the latest report by The Coalition for the Homeless, the population of those living in shelters in New York City has topped 50,000 for the first time since the Great Depression. A little less than half that number consists of children. This number does not account for the homeless population not admitted into city shelters.

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church accepts volunteers all year round for their soup kitchen and clothing bank. For more information on how you can help… please visit their website: http://stlukesnyc.org
