Brokerage Firm Reaches out in Local Race

Sovereign Global Advisors teamed up with local charities and businesses last Saturday to raise awareness of the importance of mentoring at the 8th Annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City RBC Race for the Kids. In partnership with Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play, the race drew thousands of New Yorkers, who took action for the cause.

CEO and President of Sovereign Global Advisors, John Dragotta, completed the entirety of the race with his little brother Daniel by his side.“It was a little difficult,” said Dragotta, “but we stuck together through the tough parts.” Dragotta, who has been a mentor to 13-year-old Daniel for over a year now, enjoys his time with his little brother. “He's such a respectful, smart, sweet young man with great manners. We always have a great time together.”

Maintaining his concern for his community, Dragotta instills the same values into his financial advisory company. Each year, a percentage of the company’s revenues goes to charities to benefit those New Yorkers in need of food and shelter. During the holiday season, the employees of Sovereign Global will hold a coat drive for the homeless and help out in the soup kitchen. “It is of the utmost importance that New York businesses give back to our community. The decision to do so doesn’t just make you feel good, it makes the world a better place,” said Dragotta.

Dragotta and fellow employees have begun training for the annual Join the Voices run, benefiting the Voices Against Brain Cancer foundation. All funds raised will aid in funding the research for a cure, and supporting families affected by the devastating disease.
